Hello, I was told to join this group to voice my concern.
The children’s playground and grassy section next to it has become a no go no play zone due to unbelievable amount of dog poo on the grass. It is disgusting and something has to be done to enforce the rules better. The dog poo is everywhere so much so you can’t put a foot down and my children can’t run on grass. We also can’t play in the playground as the amount of flies swarming the dog poo come to playground and so for hygiene reasons it’s become unsafe. I have asked many a mom and all say they no longer go there due to this issue.
I have put it to other Alcaidesa forums and a lady came up with a very good idea that I would love to put forward and get passed.
Can we have that grassy area fenced off and become a dog free zone, this will avoid having to police the area for dog poo leavers but also give us a safe space (like the dogs already have) to let our children roam free without other peoples dogs running up to them that aren’t on leads...I also think it will be a fantastic place to have picnics and community kids parties if the area so wished. Alcaidesa is one of the only places I know of that doesn’t have kids zone, or dog free zone and I think it would really make a difference here considering most have given up on the park BecaUe if it’s dog poo.
In addition I would like the signs of €500 fines to enforced a little more so that people can understand that’s it’s not ok as people seem to know it won’t happen around here.
The response to this campaign has been massive. It is clear that the park needs change and people are ready to fight for it.

Great idea - as owners of a dog, we deplore dog poo in public areas so the more safe space for kids the better :)

I can’t take my children to the park and let them run around because it is disgusting. We should look after where we live!

Good for you, must be sorted out. Disgraceful. I am an owner of two dogs and there is such a thing as doggie bags.

Dog poo is unacceptable anywhere but most of all at a children's park! So selfish, lazy and disgusting!

As a regular user of the park it’s actually embarrassing that when guests are visiting we cannot take them to the park as it’s so covered in dog mess. Kids cannot play ball games on the grass area. Kids need a safe clean area to enjoy.
