Tried getting a doctors appointment lately?
Well if like so many you are queuing out the door at 8 am to get a possible appointment, been hanging on the phone at 8 am only to be told "Sorry all the appointments have gone, but call back at 8 am tomorrow when more are released.
Well instead of moaning about it and nothing getting done, i have decided to start a petition to highlight the serious issue facing Haverhill and surrounding villages.Some thing HAS to change as it cant carry on, and with the recent announcement of 2,500 homes to be built in town shortly the situation will only get worse than it is now (hard to believe)
This petition isn't about the staff put the service itself.
So please give your name to this petition so iy can be presented to those that need to be shown how desperate the doctors service has become

We are currently moving toward the five hundred signature milestone which triggers a formal request for a meeting with the local primary care trust. I am drafting the official correspondence now so we need this final push to ensure the data is complete before submission.

It's crazy and will get worse. More and more houses being built, yet no sign of the infrastructure to support it. This town is big enough now to justify having a minor injuries unit really. They should never have closed the walk in centre either.
36 calls to the surgery, only to get answered that the appointments released have already gone, try again tomorrow. And why did they have to amalgamate two surgeries, I never experienced before having to wait months for an appointment, until they merged...
Never go to doctors as have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for appointment and i am diabetic. if i sit and wait i just turn up cos i can't ring at 8am or 2pm as at work so only use in emergency. sometimes you need an appointment but not ill enough to take the day off work.
It's got to the stage where people close to me have given up trying to get an appointment and have recently been diagnosed with life changing illnesses when they gave up trying to get an appointment and went to A&E I'm pretty sure this is not an isolated case.
I find it very hard to get a doctors appointment , my baby girl hasn't been well and when I have tried to make an appointment they there isn't any or that I have to wait 3 week. I thought babies and old people came first. Very disappointed.
Sometimes I have been told there are no appointments to be be booked at all.
I sign this petition not to complain and moan (because I know everyone is under a lot of pressure), but in the hope that this enables people to come together to thrash out a well supported plan to improve things. I think we all have the same good intentions, I just feel that it's often not put across in the best way and appearing to just complain isn't going to help anyone. I would happily offer my own time to help with feedback/suggestions for a new easily accessible system.

I am shocked people have to queue to get an appointment and it frustrating to get through on the phone. Stourview offered a good service before it merged to make the Haverhill Family Practice. This town needs the walk in centre back.
