I lived on Elizabeth for 16 years and never had issues with Brian or Lori. Just because she doesn't have money and Beth/Jay do, she gets the shaft.

There are always three sides to a story...her side, their side, and the truth. However, that being said, she is an elderly woman and he is a Veteran of the USA. There are other ways they could have handled this. I'm guessing there are people in DL who would donate labor and supplies to bring this home completely up to code. I am shocked to hear the City Council did not allow her to bring it up to code by a certain date, have it reinspected and then grant her the new license! Just seems very unjust to me.

This is terrible! I hope the citizens of Detroit lakes go to the next council meeting and fight for this Vets rights! The council and Mayor should be ashamed of themselves!

What they are doing violates the current county ordinances, not to mention is just morally wrong. The owner has been issued a rental license every yr and has not violated it so how is it that they are being harassed with their lively hood.

This arrangement has worked for 40 years. Neither party has the resources to survive this sudden change. If there ever was something that is deserving of being grandfathered, this is it.

This is appalling, and honestly shows the character of the city council, where once again, the love of money, and social standing overrides standing for what's moral. Unfortunately we no longer live in a Christian community...but rather one run on greed. Very disappointed in my home town! Shame on our Mayor, and city council!

Often times... the difference with right vs. wrong is arguable. Luckily, I still have North Dakota/Minnesota blood in my veins. And... even through the greed and fog, I am able to see clearly. And, I have faith that I'm not the only one.
