Dear President Hill, acting President Jonathan Chenette, and members of the Vassar College Board of Trustees, Coal, 'natural' gas, and oil companies are risky investments. These companies endanger our climate and our communities, and will ultimately risk the financial stability of our endowment. We recognize that we must move away from fossil fuels to achieve a thriving, just, and sustainable future. Vassar has the potential to lead the transition to a clean energy economy. Please encourage the Board of Trustees to publicly divest from fossil fuel companies profiting off of climate change, ecological destruction, and social and economic injustice.
