Dear Lieutenant Governor Treadwell, I am writing to request that you disclose publicly the correspondence between you, Art Hackney, and the Attorney General. The Alaska Dispatch and Mat-Su Frontiersman reported that you allowed Hackney to withdraw names from the SB 21 repeal petition via a third party website. In the interest of transparency, please disclose your correspondence with Hackney and the opinion from the Attorney General that permits you to accept such withdrawals of signatures. The integrity of our referendum/initiative process is important for Alaska's democracy.
I just spent the last hour reading through the comments again and it is honestly wild how many of you feel like the whole process has just been completely ignored by the people in charge. Seriously though if they have nothing to hide why is it taking so long to get a straight answer about how these signatures are being handled behind the scenes. It keeps me up at night wondering if anybody is actually listening or if they are just hoping we all get bored and go home.

I really did not think people would be this invested in the transparency of our process but seeing the feedback roll in has been wild. It feels like everyone is finally looking at this situation and saying wait a second because honestly the silence from their office is just becoming impossible to ignore at this point.

What is he hiding. If everything was done by the book then show us the emails. Alaskans deserve to know how this went down.

Seriously? Allowing a third party site to change the count is just wrong. I want to see the legal opinion that allowed this.

Total sketch. Since when can you just pull names off a list like that? Open the records now.

This whole thing smells fishy. People have a right to know if their officials are playing games with the process.
