I am an Alaskan who is interested in
wildlife and how it is managed. I have been increasingly disappointed
in the direction that Alaskan wildlife managers are taking, especially
with regards to wolves and bears. I want to thank you for postponing
the decision to allow the practice of bear snaring in the state until
2012.
I'm sure you recognize that the snaring of bears, which
hasn't been allowed since statehood, is very controversial and deserves a
complete scientific review and meaningful input from the public and
stakeholders.
The Board of Game, who represents a small slice of
Alaskans, is completely out of balance and out of control. Their single
focused agenda is not only contrary to public opinion, but is not
scientifically defensible. I urge you to recruit qualified members who
will represent a broader spectrum of values and interests to fill the
three seats that will open up this year.
I am one of the many
Alaskans who value wildlife and believe that science and not politics
should be the backbone of our wildlife management policies.
im honestly blown away by how fast this is growing. it means a lot to see so many alaskans speaking up because management needs to be based on science instead of just politics.

The Board of Game is totally out of touch with real Alaskans. Science should dictate management not some back room agenda.

Need people on that board who actually care about the animals and not just trophy hunting. Fix the board now.

Snaring bears is just plain cruel. We should be better than this in Alaska. Keep the wildlife the way it was meant to be.
