The Tampon Tax. You may have heard of it and if you have, I'm sure you will sign this petition right away. If not, let me explain. Over 40 states have a tax on tampons because they are considered "luxurious items". Groceries and prescription drugs in Michigan however, have no tax since they are considered essential to everyday life. Just to give you a perspective on this tax, California citizens spend 20 million dollars a year on the tampon tax. In a recent interview, President Obama said he had no idea that we had this tax and he recommended that we take a stand against it so that is exactly what we are going to do. Canada has just destroyed their tampon tax along with five of our states including Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and New Jersey. Let's be the sixth to destroy this tax. We shouldnt live in a world where tampons are taxed more than a soda. Please sign this petition so that we may send it to Governor Snyder to remove the tampon tax today!

The pink tax is an outrage. If I can help knock one item off of it and save some money while I'm menstruating. I'll be happy.

Having access to sanitary products for our menstrual cycle is necessary, not a luxury. They should not have an extra tax placed on them.
