Derry has been crying out for a skatepark for years and has many places that could accommodate one like St. Columb’s Park, Templemore Sports Complex, the Bay the list goes on. For being the second biggest city in N.Ireland and the 4th biggest city in the whole of Ireland you’d expect the council to step up.

If we had something like this I believe loads of little girls would be better more confident skaters. I know it's all I wanted when I was young, to have a place to fall where there is no judgement your encouraged to dust yourself off and try again.

Derry should definitely have a skatepark. My kids loved "Rosy's" indoor park when it was open a few years ago. Skatepark's a great environment and kids/ teen and adults all enjoy the facilities and learn from each other.

My kids' lives have been enriched by skate parks in Carrickfergus, Belfast and Newtownards. We've always encountered positive social interaction with the young people showing respect, pride and ownership at these spaces.
I think it's a vital outlet for fans of the skate sports, assists with young people's development of their identity and self worth, and serves as a vital alternative to negative social behaviour.

Even if the only benefit to the general public is not having skaters in parks, places where people congregate or generally flock to, or using seats, benches & kerbs for tricks, this suggestion has merit.
