Fantastic to see young ones on skateboards - lovely to see such energy and life about the place! Young people have been asking for a skate park for years - this was a top request to Derry Children's Commission survey of young people in 2005. Come on Derry decision makers, high time for a skate park here :)

Well over due. Facility like this encourages active and wholesome fun with different ages within rhe community. To discourage antisocial behaviour within the city alternative provisions must be made for young people.

I'm a former skater although I still have a board. Unfortunately for me I had to just give up on the idea of skating as the council deemed it more appropriate to litter pavements and stair sets with skate blockers rather than build a simple concrete park.

More Facilities are needed for young people in Derry. A Skateboard Park is long overdue. Consult the young people and start providing resources.

A skateboard park for our young people is long overdue. We complain about them gathering together on street corners or around empty carparks when shops have closed but we offer no alternatives. Its no wonder many of them try to use fake IDs to get into pubs or clubs.Youth clubs are a relic of the past and for those kids who have no interest in foot ball what facilities do we offer them?
I have never understood the reluctance of council's to provide skateparks or even outdoor handball alleys. These are common facilities even in relatively small villages all over Europe.
We owe it to our young people to provide outdoor activities which allow them to socialize and engage in healthy exercise
