Retired with a low income and cannot afford the rise in taxes every year. Yes I like the higher property value but, I believe it is over appraised for the surrounding neighborhood.

Taxes have increased dramatically in a short period of time and it's ridiculous. It's ridiculous how you build a brand new house according to plan and the sqft is off by almost a 1000 sqft. Then Fort Bend says it's valued at this when you only paid this to build it. We need a change.

Well, it is not the County that determines what a house is worth or market value. That is determined by the free market and actual sales of comparable homes in your direct vicinity. However, these valuations are now right at or above market value in many cases. The rapid increase in the County's valuations is what is killing us. This is virtually impossible for an average family to keep up with. I also blame the state of Texas allowing 10% increase per year. This far out paces the rate of growth in our economy, and I know i haven't gotten a pay raise because of the economy. They should be taking this into account. In the long run, this will have a chilling effect on property values because people won't move here because of the high tax burden. But again, thanks for your support....I truly do appreciate it.

This has to stop. The practices of this appraisal district are fraudulent at the minimum, leaning towards criminal.
