Governor Greg Abbott stated that schools can resume as normal without Covid-19 screening, masks or testing. Infections are on the rise in Texas and a second wave of infection is expected for Fall 2020.
This petition is to demand that Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Education devise a real plan of action for educators and students to return to school safely or to keep the schools closed and online learning for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
- Free or low cost Covid-19 testing stations for each school district.
- All Covid-19 tests must come back negative and no symptoms must be present to return to school.
- Student education on hygiene and protecting against Coronavirus.
- If a student, educator or staff should contract Coronavirus the school is shut down, cleaned and switched to online learning for 3 weeks for all to quarantine and catch any other potential infections before students return to school.
- Mandatory daily screening for students before entering the school.
- No changing of classrooms for students.
-Make masks mandatory for students, teachers and administrators who attend school in person.
- Handwashing/Sanitizing stations set up in each classroom.
Please sign this petition we have just a few weeks to enact change. It is imperative that we protect our families going into the 2020-2021 school year. This will limit the spread of Covid-19 within our schools and communities.

I say online til the rest off the year then reopen next year of January if covid 19 is gone by then.
Greg Abbott is causing a dangerous environment for the entire state.
Children are not responsible enough to avoid social contact! Wear masks and gloves!...our children are innocent and our future! There not republican or Democrat!...use common sense!....
It is irresponsible and it reverses everything we did on lockdown.
Allowing children to go back to schools w o proper safeguards is against everthing human.

Re-opening schools in the mist of a pandemic where there is no vaccine or cure is crazy. What about teachers that may have underlying conditions or are older? Do you expect them to return to school? 40% of active cases are asymptomatic.
