The Kern High School District gives an orange/yellow form about their technology rules they have in place to students at their high schools. If you sign it, which as freshman you already have, the district can suspend access for ANY reason. This refers to your devices whether personally owned or district owned and whether on or off campus while they can monitor your devices. If you believe that they do not have the technological power to do so think hypothetically: What would you do if they could monitor you and block your access for any reason. Now if they had the legal power to do this why wouldn't they also get the power to enforce it. If you believe they can only suspend access only if you do bad stuff; remember they can suspend access for ANY reason. If you don't sign the district's form, you can't use the technology many students desperately need for classes. This is an invasion of privacy. This petition is about keeping the monitoring only within the district's technology. They can still ask for your phone in the event they need it for stopping a bullying incident or illegal activities. You would be able to use district technology and would no longer be subjected by the former rules.
