911 calls for ambulances in Austin, TX are being dispatched to APD before and instead of ATCEMS and police are arriving and detaining people, arresting people or fatally shooting mental health patients during the medical emergency. Austin, TX has been in the news for having the highest rate of people being shot during mental health calls and in medical emergencies ambulances not arriving on time. Ambulances are arriving extremely late or not at all to Priority 1 Medical emergencies and instead people are being subject to aggressive and interrogatory tactics by Austin Police including - illegal search and seizure and violations of civil liberties, patient triage and HIPAA privacy laws (police are prevented by law to ID you or question you during a medical emergency), rights, injury, and loss of life during life threatening medical emergencies.
