Delaware Votes YES! for the Dream Act 2010

The DREAM Act is a bipartisan
proposal, which would create a pathway to legalization for thousands of young
students who were brought to the United States years ago as children. If
Congress fails to act this year, another entire class of outstanding,
law-abiding high school students will graduate without being able to plan for
the future, and some will be removed from their homes to countries they barely
know. This tragedy will cause America to lose a vital asset: an educated class
of promising immigrant students who have demonstrated a commitment to hard work
and a strong desire to be contributing members of our society. The
DREAM Act is essential because it finally creates a pathway for undocumented
students to legalize their status. Currently
there is no line for such people who were brought to the United States as
minors. On my behalf, as a constituent of
the State of Delaware, please vote YES! for the passing of the Dream Act in
June 2010.
The DREAM Act would ensure that if a person meets the following criteria they
will then be given a chance to FINALLY “get in line”:
- Entered the US prior to the age of 16;
- At least 5 years of presence in the US prior to Act’s passage;
- Good moral character;
- High school diploma or GED; and
- A college degree or military service.
Everyone deserves a chance at an education regardless of their legal status;
join us to learn what you can do to fight for student’s rights!
