Final supporters
The DCHS class of 2021 will represent 100 years of classes at Deer Creek schools! We can't think of a better way to commemmorate that, than with a graduation ceremony on the campus as it looks 100 years later.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the DCHS graduating class of 2020 held their commencement on the DCHS football field. With a new jumbo Tron to use for grad photos and live footage, the ceremony had all of the benefits of a typical graduation, without the need to travel down into Oklahoma City, find parking and navigate through the halls of the Cox center. Since the size of the class of 2020 is almost exactly the same size as 2021 we know there is plenty of room to accommodate the speakers and the students on the field and families in the stands.
People have offered concerns that weather could cause major issues with an outdoor graduation. But there's a solution for that. After a weekend for the ceremony is selected, the graduation date and time could be Friday in the evening. But if by chance there is inclement weather, there could already be back up times in place for the rest of the weekend. That would be easy to communicate via social media and email.
But best of all it would save the school several thousand dollars since they would not have to pay the typical $10,000 rental fee to Cox center. There would be expenses associated with a graduation on campus but not nearly enough to make up that difference.
Parents from the class of 2020 have expressed deep satisfaction with the ceremony and the opportunity to see their children on campus one last time in their cap and gown.

I graduated on that field in 1991, and I have been so sad that my kids had their graduation at such an impersonal venue as the Cox Center, especially given that we have the space to accommodate our families and friends. I was so happy to see my son graduate on that field this year. With immediate families spread out, it was clear that in "normal" times, we have plenty of space for many, many more. Thank you so much for starting this petition.
We went to graduation this year and loved it. It was wonderful having it at 8:30am. The weather was cool and gave us a chance to enjoy the day with our graduates. There was plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Every seat had a great view. It was so nice not having to leave our house 2 hours before graduation to drive downtown, find a place to park and then get into the Cox center to find a seat:
Graduation was great last year on the field. It should be this way EVERY year. It will save the school and PSG’s money.
Only if we can get more than 4 tickets to attend. We would need 8 at the minimum!!

Let's Do It! No reason for graduation to be off campus!!!!!
Obviously the school is broke wouldn’t this make more sense than renting a venue
