Every student deserves a champion; a teacher who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be. Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire. Students must be taught how to think, not what to think. A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
All of this and more encompasses the spirit and legacy of Vernon High School's Brenda Beebe over the many years that she dedicated her life to teaching students. She was admired, respected, and loved not only by all the many students over the years but also by other school colleagues, locals and people all over the area.
The signers of this petition all have the same admiration and love for Brenda Beebe and we wanted to present to the Vernon Independent School Board a legacy request to have the Little Theatre located inside Vernon High School be renamed the Brenda Beebe Theater.
In the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Broadway Playwrite, “Legacy. What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”

It is such an honor to have had Brenda Beebe as a Teacher, Mentor and friend. She is the reason I was able to choose a college, as she took me and Lara Hamilton Graves to schools to audition for scholarships. I will be forever grateful for her.
She was an amazing educator. I never took drama or theater while I was in high school, but you didn't have to be in her class to be one of her kids!!
Brenda Beebe made theater (and debate and speech) a powerhouse. He connection to students and their goals and dreams continues for so many and for me personally 40 years after graduating. Her loss is devastating for me, but having her memory live on would mean everything.
I'll never forget Ms. Beebe! She's one of the main reasons I have passion for theatrics. She was a wonderful and the city of Vernon should honor her as they do Coaches, as she was one, just by a different title.
I taught Brenda when she was a high school student in Electra and was still there when she came out of retirement to oversee our UIL events. She was a special person.
Loved her class. I have a big sign we made for my graduation class (1988). She was a great teacher. Patricia Hernandez Bosse

As a retired Theatre professional and long-time friend, I saw Ms. Beebe help hundreds of young adults find their passion and confidence through the arts programs she taught. Terrific educator who was proud of her kids and Vernon High School. This would be an excellent tribute to her accomplishments.
