Waitlist in receiving any support or services in Ontario for autism is rediculously long. Early intervention is crucial to help kids who have autism to read their full potential. Prolonged wait time for help in early intervention is devastating. Improve the OAP screening and funding now!

My son waited a long time for children's first 1 year for psychological assessment and he has now been waiting a year for Thames valley and they tell me it will be another 2 years before he receives services. He is 6 years old and our school does not have any autism support staff.

My child was diagnosed at 2 years of age and is now turning 4 and is still on the wait list

Absolutly rediculous how long one has to wait just to start the screening process. No help or benifits prior to the process. This can really take a toll on a family as just having answers and the access to resources can help.

As an Educator and mom to an Autistic son wait times are too long by the time their is a diagnosis they are more behind then when they started. My son was 13 yrs old before we got a firm diagnosis, before that he was labeled behavioral and given no help which is unacceptable, now he has alot more opportunities and is getting the help he needs.

As a developmental service worker and a mother, I understand that parents want the best for their children and for having a diagnosis. Having a diagnosis opens the gates for medication, a proper doctor, proper schooling with EAs and overall the best for their child. I hope the wait times get decreased to help families out

All special needs waitlists need to be decreased

Early intervention is what these children need. Wait lists that are 18-24 months are detrimental during these most informative years.
