They actually listened and the review is officially happening because I just got confirmation from the ministry desk this morning. Honestly I am still shaking a little bit while typing this because for a while I really thought we were just shouting into the void but you guys proved me …

This is a petition to encourage the Commissioner of BC Ferries and the BC Government to conduct a complete and comprehensive review of the BC Ferries Leadership and Operations, with a final goal of streamlining the management and the operation of the systems and bringing down the costs of ferry fares to a more affordable (and sustainable) level.

We, the users of the BC Ferries System, in British Columbia, feel that BC Ferries Management has lost its understanding of what the BC Ferries Systems core reason of existence is; the transportation of goods and people, as an extension of the BC and Federal Highway network.

We, the users of the BC Ferries System, would like to have a more active role in assisting the BC Government and the Commissioner in finding solutions that work, for the future of the system and the prosperity of the Province of British Columbia.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam so fast because honestly it feels like shouting into the void sometimes. Seeing everyone chime in about their own frustrations with the fares makes me feel like we are finally pointing the ship in the right direction even if the ocean is huge.

It is part of our highway system. How can all the upgrades to Whistler be toll free when our ferry costs are out of this world. Not fair at all. If necessary all roads should be user pay, why just our marine highway.

BC Ferries has to acknowledge their failure to understand the economic concept of elasticity. Fares go up and demand goes down. It's not rocket science. Fares have to come down, exoribitant salaries for staff and management need to be cut - along with all the perks. Bare bones it people!

I am a disabled pensioner on a low income, and I haven't been to Vancouver in over 3 years because of the costs. I don't care about the food (which is awful) or the merchandise. I just want to be able to go.

I am trying to add my signature to this petition with no luck. however, my comments here reflect my concerns with a bloated, confused transportation system whose sole function should be to get citizens from point a to point b in a timely, inexpensive manner. this is certainly not happening.

BC Ferries needs to focus on its operation, not the "experience". By focusing on the "experience" only the wealthy can afford to use the Ferries. We do not need flashy terminals and vessels. Simple, cheap, efficient. That is what the people of BC want.

My children and grandchildren are on the island. I am on the mainland. I would like to visit more than once or twice a year! I do not want a 'cruise' - I will be quite happy in my car with a sandwich and a coffee!! AND - a reasonable fee.

It's well past time that BC Ferries stop behaving like a cruise line and start acting like a highway instead.
