This year, Halloween is on a Monday. Kids & parents celebrate this holiday & many even consider it their favorite! Every year, my family & others spend the eventful night bonding & celebrating by trick or treating, watching scary movies, having parties & going through all of the yummy candy & snacks. These celebrations strengthen our local and school communities & also give every student a reason to go out & interact with peers & express their personalities through their costumes.

Unfortunately, many students can’t stay up late or even go out on a school night. There's homework, preparing for the next day, packing lunches early in the morning, showering & getting plenty of sleep that students have to worry about every evening before a school day. This means children
will either not be able to fully participate in the festivities of Halloween night, or they will be coming to school the next day exhausted, lacking focus & energy, & ultimately not in a good state to learn to the best of their ability.

Many parents are already considering keeping their child(ren) home from school the day after Halloween. This causes tension between the parents & children that decide to make them go to school & causes some children to have to go in early while others continue to scream with enjoyment outside.

Kids are constantly inside & on their phones. This day gives them the opportunity to celebrate outside with others away from the internet.

Due to all of the reasons stated, we are requesting that school be cancelled on Tuesday, November 1st so we can enjoy this holiday fully! This one day off will allow students & parents the opportunity to have a fun, worry free night and fully recover the next day.

We appreciate your full consideration.

Sincerely,

Clark Students
