Saanich Parks pulled the proposal and our dogs keep their off-leash access. This win belongs to every one of you who stayed focused on the park trails. Stay alert for any new signage and keep reporting the actual issues like invasive plants.

Saanich Parks Department is proposing that dogs in Cuthbert Holmes parkbe leashed throughout the park trails except for two proposed small, public off-leash areas (which will be inconvenient and unsafe). We, the local, responsible dog-owning community are the vast majority of current park users and we will be harmed by this proposal. We are long-term, daily users of the park and we see NO evidence that off-leash dogs are responsible for any undesirable impact to Cuthbert Holmes. Consequently, this proposal will not solve any existing problem. We ask Saanich to focus on the serious problems of massive invasive plant overgrowth, littering and vagrant camping rather than unjustifiably penalizing our user group. IF there are are identifiable, environmentally fragile areas within the park, we ask that these be appropriately marked so that we and our animals can respect these spaces. We support actions to increase park use and strongly oppose this disappointing effort to alienate us from our local, communitywalking space.

A parks strategy providing a solution for something that is not a problem. The work up for the strategy has no sound basis...how about thinking what a large percentage of happy dogs and dog walkers use the parks now, with minute numbers of problems. That is more scientific than the " study/surveys" used to develop this draconian strategy.

Leave us alone in the park. My dog is better behaved than half the people I see out there.

This is ridiculous. I walk here every single morning and have literally never seen an issue. Why fix what isnt broken?

Maybe focus on the actual trash and needles in the bushes instead of harassing people just trying to enjoy a walk with their dog.

Having off-leash areas is part of a civilized society.
