The Los Angeles Kings are the new 2012 Stanley Cup champions.

This great achievement has inspired all of Southern California. But it really resonates in the South Bay beach communities.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "[n]early all of the Kings players live in the South Bay." Many current and former Kings players and executives are Manhattan Beach residents.

It is time for the Stanley Cup to make a stop in Manhattan Beach, the second home of the LA Kings.

We agree with Manhattan Beach city councilman Richard Montgomery, who has led the charge for a Manhattan Beach Stanley Cup event. He told the LA Times:

"Our city is going crazy," Montgomery said. "Our businesses, our downtown restaurants, our bars, everyone's happy for the Kings…. Now we get to enjoy it as a community."

A Manhattan Beach-specific Stanley Cup event will give our community the chance to show our support for our friends and neighbors, the 2012 champs!

Kings players! Kings execs! Kings supporters! Please bring the cup to MB!

I honestly cannot believe how fast this is moving through the community right now. It feels like the whole beach is buzzing about the trophy coming home and I am just sitting here staring at my screen in total shock. Maybe we really can get them down here because this energy is just impossible to ignore.

The Kings are basically locals at this point. They earn their keep here in the off season. Let the city throw a party for them.

My kids would flip out if they got to see the cup in person. Do it for the fans in the beach cities!
