Back in the 1980\'s, the NHL started a tradition of allowing every member of the Stanley Cup winning teams to have a \"Day with the Cup\" to do with as they please. Since that time, the most famous sports trophy of all time has been at parties, the beach, baptisms, strapped to a motorcycle, thrown into players pools, taken to the top of a mountain, toured Europe, and most importantly it has been shared with the family & friends of all the winners! This petition is to present to the NHL & Hall of Fame, the fact that we the fans would like to see that opportunity be available for all of the members of every Stanley Cup winning team that won the Cup before this tradition started. Wouldn\'t it be great to see many of our past heroes, many of whom just played for the love of the game, to be able to share this opportunity with their loved one Just imagine the great players like Ted Lindsay, Johnny Bower, George Armstrong, Jean Beliveau, Johnny Bucyk, Yvan Cournoyer, Ken Dryden, Alex Delvecchio, Phil Esposito, Bernie (Boom Boom) Geoffrion, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Ted Kennedy, Dick Duff, Bob Pulford, Jacques Lemaire, Gerry Cheevers, Bobby Orr, Derek Sanderson, Bill Clement, Guy Lafleur, Dave Keon, & Bob Gainey, just to name a few, getting the opportunity to spend the \"Day with the Cup\" that they missed out on simply because they won it before the tradition started Imagine them being able to take the Cup to school for show & tell with their grandchildren, or having a mini reunion with some old friends from their playing days, or making the most of the opportunity to help raise some much needed funds for their favorite charity, or just simply having a quiet evening at home with friends & relatives over to enjoy it and to reflect on their playing days. My suggestion would also be that any member of any championship team that has passed away and would be unable to have their \"Day with the Cup\", that the opportunity would automatically be passed along to their next surviving relative for them to do with as they please as a remembrance of their loved one.
