Safety improvements are needed at the intersection of Rt.250 (NYS) & Whalen Rd (Monroe County). The safety of pedestrians in the surrounding neighborhood can not be overlooked in this high volume traffic area.
We are requesting the installation of a crosswalk with pedestrian-countdown-indicator lights at this intersection. We have communicated with the Town of Penfield; Zachary Nersinger/Town Planner and the Town Engineer.
The increasing volume of motor vehicle traffic on Rt.250 is challenging and dangerous for pedestrians trying to cross.

I was just out near the intersection earlier today and honestly it is terrifying watching cars whip around that corner while people are just trying to get to the park. I have been drafting more emails to the DOT people because the silence from their office is getting pretty frustrating but I am not giving up on this even if it takes a while to get a real response.

I checked the feed this morning and I am actually stunned by the momentum because people clearly see this intersection is a total nightmare. Seeing so many neighbors join in makes me feel like maybe someone at the state level will finally pay attention to how impossible it is to walk across that road.

Fix this before someone gets killed. It gets worse every single year.
Rt 250 is basically a highway now. Way too much traffic for there not to be a safe way for people to get across.
About time someone looked at this. The speed limit is a joke to these drivers.
I live right by there and it is actually terrifying to try and cross. Cars go way too fast on 250.
My kids walk to friends houses and I refuse to let them cross at Whalen. Too dangerous.
