Subject: Letter of Recommendation for cricket as varsity sport Dear Katie Sheahan, First of all, we want to thank you for wholehearted help you have provided to Concordia Cricket Club. It was your faith in us that helped us form a club and we hope, through our team, we have lived up to your expectations. As reported to you earlier, our participation in National Championship 2011 was very fruitful. We finished Runner Up for Plate in National Championship. Of our regional matches, our club had excellent track record. We won 5 of our regional league matches and lost only 1. At inter-university level, we had a lukewarm start to our club having won 1 and lost two to McGill U. Our club has grown into a community of 146 members in mere one season. Having started in late season (Starting July 2011) last year, we have seen a tremendous growth as a club. Results and growth aside, mere interaction with cricket executives from Cricket Canada during our development has been a wonderful experience. Through those interactions, we have gotten an opportunity to push the envelope for cricket at Concordia University. OUA (Ontario University Athletics) is going to review status of Cricket in Ontario & Quebec Universities. There is a possibility that Cricket might get Varsity Sports status just like Ice Hockey has, under OUA. However, for Concordia University to be part of OUA, we need to make a strong case. OUA executives have recommended us to get a letter of recommendation from Sports Director, get a petition, in support of Cricket As Varsity Sport, signed by as many registered students as possible and submit it to them as soon as possible. They are expected to review it later this month. I, as President of Concordia Cricket Club, on behalf of underneath signatories, request for a letter of recommendation directed to Ontario University Athletics. We are all very thankful to you for all the efforts you have put into our cricket club. We promise to raise the bar with every season and make Concordia proud with our every effort.
