JR Simplot left a beautiful story for Boise that encourages the conservation and responsible use of protected land in the Treasure Valley. A wealthy curmudgeon unilaterally repossessed the Crestline Trailhead parking lot off Claremont road. He spread falsehoods about the abuse of the parking lot, blocking the entrance without permission. Erasing a 40+ year easement the lot provided for outdoor recreationists, especially those with disabilities. In an effort to take back the Crestline Trailhead Parking lot and return it to the people who utilize the trails, you are encouraged to speak out and sign the petition. Claremont Realty, the managing group, should hear what the people of Boise think about the protection of wealthy people (person) and their interests over the enjoyment of the land by the public. JR Simplot famously let people enjoy ice blocking on his property and left a community space JUMP for the people. Would he want one guy with a little money to take away legacy land use?

I have been hearing from so many of you who remember the legacy of J.R. Simplot and the joy this land brought to our families. It is painful to see a single person carve out a piece of our history for his own private use while ignoring the needs of everyone else. I am currently gathering more information to confront the property managers and show them that Boise will not stay silent while our access is stripped away.

Very active and used parking lot back in the day. All the weird cameras etc. are just baffling.
Let's open our trail access and not claim streets as "private" by leaving notes on cars. Trail users care are respectful and leash dogs. Thanks in advance Claremont Realty for the show of unity... don't let one neighbor wreck that.
This Trail and Trail had has been a part of north end history for years and years. Why does one person get to take this away from all Who have enjoyed these hills for decades?
The public deserves the right to park in this parking lot. The lot was open when home owners bought their homes. It is not right for them to close the lot
My running group and I have been meeting at Crestline for years to enjoy its beautiful trails. Unfortunately, we’re now forced to park along the street in front of homes, creating a hazardous situation by reducing the road to a single lane—all while the parking lot remains unused.
Please open this area for all to enjoy!

The claims that there was a problem with parties when the lot was open are, at best, exaggerated, and are more accurately, a complete fabrication. Having access to a lot for trail users will reduce the need for on street parking, making it less congested and safer.
