Final supporters
A few months ago, the country was in shock from the horrific terrorist attack that took place in a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburg. Since then, it has come to light that many communities , including the Chicago community, have been re-evaluating our security systems.
One of the places in dire need of proper security is the JCC of West Rogers Park. This is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. At this JCC there are family activities and fairs, a large child day care center, a summer camp, services for the elderly and special needs, access to both pool and gym amenities etc. This is a place where we should feel safe to bring families, as an outlet to connect with others or to care for our physical health.
The Chicago JCC is in desperate need of re-evaluating proper security. It is up to us to create change and not wait for an incident to G-d forbid change us. Please help support this cause and help keep our community safe.
It will have more impact to approach the JUF and the JCC (who decide funding and budgeting) with a large support on this issue as opposed to voicing this concern individually. This is why supporting this petition is so important!

I have been hearing from so many parents lately who are just as worried as I am about how exposed the center feels during the day. It is honestly keeping me up at night thinking about those kids in daycare and all the seniors coming in for programs while we just sit here waiting for someone to listen to us. I am drafting a direct letter to the board members today because the silence from the leadership is getting loud and frankly quite frustrating.

I really never thought this would gain so much ground when I first typed it out in a panic late that one night. It feels surreal to see people actually acknowledging that we cannot just wait around for something terrible to happen before we fix the locks and cameras.

Definitely put locks on Locker rooms! Also, panic buttons should be installed. Is there even a defibrillator like at airports?
There are not enough staff for lifeguards and people swim in the pool all alone sometimes.
Our JCC, that almost the entire community uses, is in DESPERATE need of proper security (and renovations / updating). In today's anti-semitic climate the lack of security is very pathetic.
Unfortunately, the world we live in today requires many more safety measures to be put in place. Panic buttons and doors that lock should be a priority.
Please put locks back on the locker room doors. Please put panick buttons at desk to automatically close upstairs and downstairs metal doors in emergencies. Consider using gym to line up CJE and members and children when fire alarm is pulled. Outside line ups are too dangerous
I've been complaining that the locker rooms do not have locks anymore and they have no intention of putting any on. They have in the workout rooms but not the locker rooms.

Locker rooms should be locked again and they should have armed security guards who will be capable of taking action in case of an emergency.
