In our experience (Heathen Brewers is located in the basement of a specialist beer and wine shop in Haywards Heath), independent craft beer shops add tremendously to the local scene and become really popular with people who are interested in exploring the wonderful range of local, national and international beers. Such shops attract a clientele that is interested in quality, not quantity of beer. They also,have a positive impact on the local community, by providing wider choice and helping to keep the local, independent retail sector alive.

I hope this works out for you guys. These Craft Beer Shops are a world away from the old-fashioned Off Licence. They are not bland, stack em' high sell em' cheap, shops, they stock premium products made/bought/sold by passionate people. A great addition to any high street. Good Luck with the hearing.

The best thing to happen in West Street for many years. A similar business in West Street ,Dorking won an award for best small pub.My Tankard is polished for the opening night.Cheers.

Living in the area myself - West Reigate - I think this is a great idea and a good use for an empty shop. Hopefully with it's limited opening hours and more discerning clientele this shouldn't be a concern for the local residents - not that there are many in the direct vicinity

Why would there be any objection to this - this is what we need in our towns – diversification provided by small independents to keep our high streets alive – and keep out yet another chain or charity shop.

I believe that any business which encourages people to get involved in a craft, is beneficial for independence and people who enjoy artisan, home-made products. As long as people consume their products responsibly and it doesn't add to the street drinkers dilemma!
