Mayor Keeler stated during his campaign that he would restore honesty and integrity to the City of Cohoes. Council Vice President Don Russell has been found in violation of two ethics codes for unlawful use of municipal resources and mis-use of his public office for personal gain by the City of Cohoes ethics board based upon a thorough investigation of a complaint. The council, through resolution #50 of 2020 only fined him $500.00 and no censorship. He remains council VP and continues to represent the people of the 2 nd ward. We call upon Mayor Keeler to publicly call for Mr. Russell to resign his public office. Furthermore, we call for Mr. Russell himself to take the high road and resign his office for violating the public trust.
