As our loved ones grow older and the cost of health care rises, building a Secondary Dwelling maybe the only way we can afford to provide care for them. Eugene City Council should do everything it can to provide residents the means to care for there family member.

We live on a large lot in the unincorporated River Road area and would like to be able to have a detached living space for our extended family. Annexing into the City is not presently an option.

I inherited a home in the Cal Young neighborhood with a large back yard. I work two jobs and still struggle to pay my mortgage. I would love to have a SDU to help me out and help someone else to live in a safe, quiet neighborhood. I hope these restrictions can be lifted soon. Thank you!

We're I able to build a small cottage in my capacious back yard I would live there and could have a family live in my larger house. I'm drowning in a home I can't afford to live in because I can't find an even remotely decent rental.

Affordable housing does not mean we're only looking for housing those with very low income or the homeless can access. Affordable housing is housing that allows all residents, including retirees who want to stay in their community but need to downsize. It includes housing for young couples starting out, and our firefighters and teachers. The Cottage Code allows us to move in the right direction in creating affordable housing, particularly near the city center where residents can walk to shopping and entertainment. Thank you for your consideration in expanding codes to allow for much needed housing options.

This is such an important improvement for affordable housing, families and seniors (in-law apartments), and neighborhoods. Eugene is missing a whole sector of housing options that make quality of life here less than in could be.
