Cotgrave is set to lose out once again, as Notts County Council is set to renege on its promise of financial support for the redevelopment of the Precinct Shopping Area. Previously the County Council had given an undertaking to join with the Borough Council, Cotgrave Town Council, the NHS and the Police, along with financial support from the developers of the former pit site. Now the County Council has pulled its financial support, meaning that the Library will not now go in the multi building planned as part of the development. We are now campaigning to get the County Council to change its mind. Note the Precinct is to be redeveloped as part of the proposed Pit site housing development. The multi purpose building was to have housed the Library, the Health Centre, the Police and local council admin points. New shops and a Supermarket are planned for the Precinct.

Updates

December 11, 2012

The silence from the County Council regarding the removal of the library remains concerning. I am currently coordinating with our local representatives to ensure they understand that our community deserves the full development we were promised.

December 11, 2012

Reaching this level of support indicates that our community refuses to accept the loss of these essential public services. This momentum confirms that people value the integrity of our town center and expects the council to honor their initial commitments.

Ridiculous decision to pull funding now when we were promised these changes. Cotgrave needs a proper hub or it will just keep going downhill.

Without the library in the new building there goes the heart of our community. Cant believe they think we will just accept this.

Everything else is moving forward but the council has to drag its feet. Put the money where it belongs for once.

Need this revitalization for the area. Keeping local services together is just common sense.
