Whereas Cornwallis Junior High is a vibrant, neighbourhood junior high that services a large in-boundary(90%)enrollment; and Whereas Cornwallis Junior High is very successfully delivering a full educational program and access to extra-curricular learning opportunities; and Whereas Cornwallis Junior High has current utilization of 86% based on revised provincial capacity; and Whereas the proposed consolidation of Cornwallis Junior High into Gorsebrook Junior High does not provide reasonable access to a neighbourhood junior high school for the large concentration of public school students living in the Cornwallis community; I (petitioner) hereby object to the recommendation in the Halifax Regional School Board Imagine our Schools:10 year Facility Master Plan - Phase I, to review Cornwallis Junior High for permanent closure. I (petitioner) hereby request that you, Mr. Windsor, reject the recommendation to review Cornwallis Junior High for permanent closure. I fully support keeping Cornwallis Junior High school OPEN to continue to serve its neighbourhood community.
