Cork Dockyard LTD in Cobh, has applied for planning permission to change the use of part of the site to a Metal Recycling facility and waste storage. The metal recycling will range from scrap metal to old cars, which also means hazardous waste will be stored at the facility. They are anticipating that 92 trucks full of metal and waste will be delivered to the site on a daily basis. The road infrastructure is not able to handle this volume of traffic. There is possiblity of air pollution. Significant noise and vibration will also be a result, signifcantly detracting from this beautiful area. We need your help to try and stop permission from being granted. Please sign this petition, in an attempt to keep Cobh as the fine heritage town it should be!
I was looking at the traffic near the dockyard again today and it is just impossible to imagine ninety two trucks pushing through those narrow lanes every single day. People are sending me such stressed messages about the noise and the dust because we really want to keep our town from turning into a dumping ground for scrap metal that belongs somewhere else entirely.

I really thought this might just be a lost cause in the beginning but seeing how many people care about our harbor town is actually overwhelming. My notifications have been absolutely nonstop all day and I honestly cannot believe the energy behind this fight right now.

THINK OF THE POLLUTION! Hazardous waste being stored right near the water is a recipe for disaster. Stop this now.

92 trucks a day? The roads in Cobh are barely wide enough for two cars to pass. This is madness.
