I consider the Walnut Street beech a living being which should be guarded as a Medford natural treasure. Judging from the size of the trunk, it is close to 200 years old; does anyone think that such a tree could grow again in Medford? It has a particular silent presence and there is no other tree like it in the area. Must all creatures and trees be eradicated because they are voiceless, and because money must win? Surely there must be a way to save this tree.

This developer has no concern at all for Medford...its history or its residents. I had to fight in court at my own expense to save the Maple tree in my yard that was severely damaged last year during another subdivision they developed and I am not sure if it'll come back after the winter. They were untruthful w/me & I had to go to court when they tore down my fence while I was at work, claiming my land as theirs. There should be a list of historical properties in Medford and provisions to protect their development made. Maybe contacting the new Mayor about this would be helpful.

My son and I walk past this tree often and comment on it's enormous scale and just how old it must be. It is rare that a tree of this age exists and appears in good health. I would strongly urge the developer to keep the tree- it brings value to the property! So many great, old trees have been cut in and around my street and now all I see is pavement and chain link. It looks cheap and dirty without trees! Please save the tree and please spare us more vinyl clad boxes.

Once again it is heartbreaking to witness such shortsightedness. A tree that has taken decades to reach its unique beauty would be replaced by what . . . more buildings and concrete and parked cars? I can't believe a developer who has taken such care in the restoration of this beautiful historic house would choose to destroy this magnificent piece of nature. Please find a creative way to work around the tree.

I walk by the tree almost every day and it is so beautiful and majestic. I wonder how old it is...probably hundreds of years old.

Mr Kenworthy, please take pride in the fine development done to date, sell up and move on. To build on the plot and damage/kill this magestic tree would destroy the value of the house condos, leave a terrible legacy in this neighborhood, for the planet and your grandchildren.
