TLDSB Trustees the following are our concerns about the proposed busing changes:
-Geographically it does not make sense to bus around the lakes when TASS is so much closer for the families, our children will be spending enormous amounts of time on a bus. For many of us the distance will be at least three times as far for our children to be bused to I.E. Weldon.
-The dynamics will create chaos and upheaval for families. This change is going to divide families and parents are going to be commuting a ridiculous amount of kms to attend to their kids needs. Further incurring unnecessary travel costs. We will literally be living in our cars.
-We feel blindsided by this change. It would have been better to have known this back in Jan/Feb when choices were made. Communication lines need to be opened up and further discussed with parents to see if a compromise or solution could be reached.
-If there are 105 kids in the Peterborough district being bused into Kawartha Lakes why can this not be reciprocated?
-There are many examples of families that will have their children attending high schools that are no where near close to each other creating many scheduling nightmares.
- The current busing situation has been in place for 50 years, why change it now?
We are asking for a meeting specifically to discuss this matter to respectfully try to find a resolution that benefits both groups.

I have major concerns with my son going to a school an hour away from my work. He has a life threatening allergy and if something happens it would take an hour to get to him. My current move and my ex husband's move was made so our kids could go to Tass from both our homes. My ex husband and I will be forced to sell our homes so our kids can go to a Peterborough school to be close to our son if something happens.
If KPRDSB is willing to provide transportation free of charge for over 100 TLDSB students why can't TLDSB do the same for KPRDSB? We try to teach our youth to treat others as you would like to be treated, as adults we need to remember that too. Numerous families will have 2 or more children attending two different high schools more than 40 minutes apart. Please reconsider this decision. Thank-you
Bussing is importsnt
My children won't attend highschool for many years however we would not have built where we did had we know that my children might attend a Lindsay school. My husband and I work in ptbo and that would make me 45min away in an emergency situation to get to my child. Or to attend any sporting events ect.
TASS is an exceptional school. The Integrated Arts program has added to the unique atmosphere of this school. I know of no other in Peterborough or Kawartha Lakes that offers such a wide variety of courses or embraces diversity as openly as TASS. This atmosphere offers children an opportunity for learning the valued "character traits" through a multitude of dimensions. Further, I see no possible way that adding, in some cases, a great deal of time and distance to a child's trek to school as beneficial or economically responsible. Time is a precious thing. Why should we waste the time of our young people in such a meaningless way?
Keep options open for students to have a choice to go to school in Ptbo. or Lindsay.

I have two children already going to TASS, and my daughter has intentions of going into the arts program. She is going into grade 8 this year and would be affected by this change. There are no other schools that offer such a program in our area.
