Consultation on a new Conservation Area for Wandsworth Town

The Mayor's scheme was rejected by Wandsworth Council because it was completely out of character and proportion with the existing area. Traffic in the area is already a massive problem and such a high density development would exacerbate the problem further. The architecture of the existing area needs protecting. It is entirely wrong for the Mayor to attempt to bulldoze through a plan that has been twice rejected after careful consideration by Wandsworth Council. This is attempted dictatorship!

This needed to be done several years ago!

We don't want yo live in a forest of high rises thank you. Not only does it devalue our property it is an eyesore.

The transport system is already buckling with the number of people. And the roads are already jam-packed with cars!

While it is arguable that Wandsworth is a sensible place to build needed housing, that is not an excuse to ride roughshod over the existing development plan. The Homebase approval also relied on suppressed railway station usage numbers. The mayor should be focusing on improving transport links before increasing the massing of developments.

I would like to object to erecting this imposing tower block in Wandsworth. This building would be totally out of character with the rest of the area and would cause a constant shadow over the residents of Old York Road and totally ruin the landscape that is currently enjoyed by the area.

There were a number of reasons for the planning being refused initially and for a second time. It is very difficult to board a busy train from Wandsworth Town during rush hour right now, which proves that the area is already overcrowded.

Although I do not live in York Road, I am dead against the proposed area in that historic spot. The mayor has already ruined many historic spots.

We've already lost one HomeBase to The Royal Ballet School. Homebase & B&Q (also to be turned into flats) 2 very useful stores. How many Homebase staff will be made unemployed?? London is already overpopulated - the more homes we build the more who will come here. Have the flats in the 37 storey block recently built in Lombard Rd/Vicarage Crescent sold yet - don't see many lights on at night.

Very good initiative by Fairfield Conservatives. There is lots of potential for it, apart from protecting the area against City Hall "invasion"

I support making old York Road and Tonsleys a conservation area

The towers are too high and don’t fit with other complex around the area and the train station can’t cope with it allready

I believe the Old York Road and Tonsley area should be graded as a Conservation Area.

A high rise block in this area is completely out of keeping with the area and not wanted by local people.. Views from local residents and businesses all attest to this view.
