We, the undersigned, wish to formally express our disagreement with the mandatory requirement for members to engage caddies along with buggies. Our concerns are based on the following points:
Financial Burden on Members: The mandatory engagement of caddies will automatically increase the cost of playing for members, which could place a significant financial burden on individuals.
Caddies and Course Maintenance: The requirement to engage caddies has no direct correlation with issues such as divots not being repaired or bunkers not being raked. These problems are more a reflection of player attitudes and behavior, rather than being tied to the use of caddies.
Alternative Methods of Supporting Caddies: While the intention behind this policy may be to also support caddies' welfare and income, we believe that there are alternative, more effective ways to achieve this goal without imposing additional costs on the members.
Caddies for Guests and Reciprocal Members: We acknowledge the merit of engaging caddies for guests and reciprocal members, where their engagement may enhance the experience. However, we do not see the need for this requirement for regular club members.
Competitions and Caddies: It is common practice to engage caddies for competitions, as the caddy fees are typically included in the competition entry fees. This is a different scenario from regular rounds of play.
Reduced Revenue: The caddy policy was initially enforced in December 2022, but was later withdrawn due to the additional costs it imposed on members. As a result, the poor turnout led to a significant drop in revenue for the club.
Discretion of Members: Members should have the discretion to choose whether to engage caddies or not, based on personal preference and circumstances.
Constitutional Considerations: KGNS is a Members' Club, and as such, major decisions that significantly affect the welfare and rights of the members should be deliberated and consented to by the members in accordance with the Club’s Constitution.
We respectfully request that the club reconsider this policy and involve the members in further discussions before making any final decisions.

The compulsory requirement for members to engage caddy when using buggy should be dropped completely & immediately. Course Marshall should ensure players repair divots & rake sand & warn players for non compliance with club rules. Understand this is being successfully practiced by JGCC
Don’t take the easy way out…. Do your work as a committee to develop good golfing practices. As for helping caddies, members contribute to their welfare fund , but very little info given on gow this money have been utilised.!!
Let course marshalls do their work! Warnings to be given to members not repairing divots, not carrying sand pail, not following by-laws of the club. Punish and suspend members and be more strict and enforce rules! Many times Marshalls are only on the bike and NOT doing what they suppose to do!!
To those who are not affected but believe the compulsory caddy rule is unfair, please support this petition. Strength in numbers matters. Many buggy users are retirees, and they have calculated that playing twice a week would cost them RM600 per person. This is a significant amount for them.
The reason for forcing members to hire caddies is pretty lame. Instead golfers shud b reminded on the etiquette of golf and stern action b taken against those who don’t comply. What about the walking golfers, how sure are you they will replace divots, level bunkers etc?
Totally agreed with the facts in this petition. It should be up to individual member decision. It is definitely not compatible with walking golf culture of the club.
Fully agree. It is the job of the Marshall to educate the players to repair the divots etc.

This a members' club. We decide . If I want a buggy or caddy I decide at the time of play. Don't force me. In a proprietary club, the owner decides. Can't blame him. It is an investment for the owner.So, I hope the MC can think like members and not as owner.
