Seeing the pile of plastic waste in the cafeteria every day eats at me because I know we can do better. We are on the verge of hitting two hundred and fifty signatures so please send this link to someone who eats lunch on campus today.

Seeing the cafeteria bins overflowing with plastic each day breaks my heart because I know we can do better. We need a final surge of support to hit one hundred signatures before I present our proposal to the administration. Please send the link to someone else today so we can finally force this change at our school.

Hopefully this will lead to to getting rid of other plastics in the lunch line. There is always plastic wrapped around the apples which seems incredibly unnecessary and should also be taken away.
if they have to do it in restaurants and grocery stores, then why not in schools as well
It is important to use biodegradable food containers in Palo Alto schools in order to further promote our city's movement toward the betterment of the environment. At my mom's cafeteria at Apple, mostly all food containers are compostable.
this would be a really nice change. I would actually buy more salads if the containers were compostable.
If/when the switch is made, higher-ups should let custodians know so that when sorting/removing trash they understand that the new lunch trays belong in the compost, not in any other bins.

I believe this idea will encourage composting and make it easier to understand the process of trash disposal.
