This petition is brought to you by U.W.I STAT Vice Chancellor's Ambassadors of the Cave Hill Campus. We are seeking your support by generating student interest for a GREEN Campus. We intend to lobby the student Guild and Food Vendors on campus to adopt VEGWARE products.
Vegware develops and manufactures a full range of eco-friendly products for food service and packaging. Vegware products are either made from renewable or recycled materials, and are certified compostable.
Vegware's raw materials and manufacture are cleaner than conventional packaging. After use, their products can be composted within a matter of months - no need for landfill and a much shorter carbon cycle than for oil-based plastic products.

I have been walking around the food court lately and looking at the sheer amount of plastic waste piling up in our bins. It is painful to see our beautiful campus treated this way when compostable alternatives are right there waiting to be utilized. We are meeting with the vendors next to show them exactly how these products can fit into their daily operations.

Seeing this level of backing from my fellow students confirms that we are all ready to change how our campus handles waste. Dealing with the overflow of plastic in our bins has been a daily frustration and your energy gives me genuine hope that we can finally turn this around.

UWI is an institution full of persons who think progressively, we have to be smarter than to constantly use materials so harmful to our environs and so detrimental to our society and economy. What's the sense of acquiring knowledge if you never use it. Clean it up Barbados. #LeadTheWay #GreenBim
I hope this becomes a reality not only at UWI but also in Barbados and soon maybe the Caribbean.
Excellent petition hopefully it is approved and population and indirectly some global warming is reduced.
An excellent initiative. One step closer to attaining sustainable development of our region; whose economy thrives on a pollution free environment.
I'm happy to support this initiative, this will greatly reduce our impact on the environment.

About time. Every day I see trash overflowing from those bins, half of it is just styrofoam that doesnt go anywhere. Lets actually do something for once.
