The county council is developing a country wide network of railway paths. The Tarka Trail is one of the flagship routes in Devon, with 32 miles of traffic free path, but this has a missing link between Meeth and the Market town of Hatherleigh. The route currently follows an interim, on road via Sheepwash which is circuitous and hilly, and does not realise the benefit of an off road Trail. Connecting the Tarka Trail to the existing path at Made-Well on to Hatherleigh will better connect this Market town to the strategic cycle network, bringing a range of benefits.

Your support is vital in ensuring the missing link in the Tarka Trail is completed.

The climb toward five hundred signatures has been exhausting and progress is slower than I hoped. If you can get this link in front of one more local group today we might finally reach that threshold.

This would be a very welcome improvement to the amazing Devon Coast to Coast trail. Very bemficial to local users, tourism and the local economy. I have ridden the 'go round' twice. The scenary is wonderful but really hard work; impractical for local users andespecially families.

At the moment the end of the trail is a little disappointing. To continue it to Hatherleigh would make a wonderful ending. Visiting Hatherleigh, taking in the sights, stopping for coffee or lunch would be a perfect end to the Trail.

Opening this section of the Tarka Trail would make a huge improvement of access for local and visiting walkers , runners and people with disabilities . At present it is not realistically accessible to these groups without using a car .

This would be fantastic as those, like me, who live in Petrockstowe, could cycle to work. I would love to be more green but at the moment the options for cycling to Hatherleigh are either a long and hilly detour through Sheepwash or a lethal main road.

Completing this section would add an essential piece of off road cycle trail, the route through Sheepwash is inecessarily lengthy, especially for someone wishing to walk rather than cycle, and the other option of the hideously dangerous main road is just out of the question.

My children grew up in Hatherleigh but could never get to the tarka trail without a car to carry the bikes! Let's get the trail linked to Hatherleigh so that many more children can benefit, not just those with parents able and willing to transport bikes by car
