After spending millions of pounds on the Drake's Trail section of the Route 27 Cycle Path, Devon County Council have still not acquired the land for the link that would join the hamlet of Grenofen with the Trail that goes directly underneath them in one of Brunel's tunnels. The link would only be approximately 100 metres long through a field which they have been negotiating with the landowner for over 5 years. Instead they are making cyclists and walkers cross one of the fastest and most dangerous sections of the A386, and walk one and a half miles to access the tunnel down steep and narrow lanes. Not a great idea for families with small children on cycles. The council have spent tens of thousands of pounds on work done so far at Grenofen which is at present a wasted project and cannot not be used to its full potential. They have said in the local paper on 6th Jun 2012 that they are entering compulsory purchase proceedings. This was spoken about years ago, How long will this next stage take !! Please sign this petition in order that Devon County Council will speed up the completion of this link so that the residents of Grenofen can access the Cycle Route in a safe way, and enjoy the countryside and all that goes with it, and so that that those people who are on the Cycle Path can have a break at one of Devon's pubs which has unbelievable views of Dartmoor and West Devon.
