Congress has an approval rating approaching single-digits. They have failed to fix our budget problems and our economy continues to be weak after four years of failed promises. Congress is irresponsible because they draw districts as to be not to be accountable to voters and instead rally their special interests at election time. If we are to make a comeback as a country this must change. New Jersey has only had one seat turnover in the last ten years and many incumbents have served for decades. Yet our state continues to get the worst return on its tax revenue in the whole nation. Right now, New Jersey’s Redistricting Commission is creating a new map. This petition calls for as many truly competitive districts as possible to be drawn in the state so voters can hold congresspeople accountable and that parties will each offer their best candidate in each district in every election.
