In an effort to eliminate the stalemate and partisan politics that are occurring in the Congress of the United States of America, we are petitioning the state governments of all 50 states to enact the following Constitutional Amendment. 1. Set term limits as follows a. Senate – a Senator shall serve no more than two elected 6 year terms, or three terms if appointed to fill a vacated seat. b. House of Representatives – a congressman shall serve no more than three elected 2 year terms, or four terms if appointed to fill a vacated seat. 2. Compensation a. No members of congress shall receive any form of compensation after leaving service in congress. b. Any laws enacted upon the American people the members of congress will be required to also participate in those programs – (i.e. Social Security, Health Care, and any other social programs they may enact.) c. If Congress fails to pass a federal budget and the government is shutdown Congress and staff will not be paid until a budget is passed. It is time those who run for office remember who they are there to serve, and when their time is over return to their homes and be a part of the community they are from.
