The board finally confirmed the SRO program stays in our schools. I am beyond exhausted from this fight but incredibly grateful that our message stuck. We have to keep watching the district closely to ensure they honor this commitment moving forward.

"The School Resource Officer (SRO) program is a problem-solving approach to reducing crime by assigning specially trained officers to each of the traditional junior and high schools in the district to establish an ongoing rapport with students, staff and parents. Fort Collins Police Services works collaboratively with Poudre School District to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff." - FCPD website.

Poudre School District (PSD) has received a recommendation to eliminate SROs in schools despite community, student, and teacher support of the SRO program.

Please sign this letter to tell the PSD school board that you support keeping SROs in our schools to maintain the safety of our children and community.

One hundred people have signed on to keep our officers in the schools. It feels like a long road ahead but I appreciate that you are walking it with me.

Reaching this level of support feels like a heavy weight has been shifted off my shoulders. It is exhausting to fight this battle but seeing this level of community energy gives me the grit to keep pushing forward.

My School resource officer mentored me when I was a student. I don't understand why we would remove them. Why would you take a security guard out if a Bank? Our most cherished treasure is held inside of the school. Why are we removing barriers to violence in those places?

As a District Employee I was required to do Active Shooter training to protect our children. Now you are telling me I have to be willing to protect the children but your are pulling SROs out of school. Who is going to protect our teachers. This is unacceptable.

Our SROs have such wonderful relationships with the kids and their families. Please keep them in the schools. My kids have a very favorable response to police officers partly because of the amazing SRO program. Keep them in our schools.

We need SRO's in school. They bridge the gap between law in forcement and children. They give a sense of safety. Before we remove them, we should put forth training and accountability. The good of SRO's far outweighs the bad!

Community survey showed overwhelming support, the independent panel did not. Who do we listen to here....the community that entrusts you with our children or a select few on a panel. It is obvious that SROs are valuable and must stay!

Ask Mrs. Benton or the 6th graders on December 2019 at Preston Middle School if they feel comfortable without a SRO officer! Sargent Savage was the first on the scene when Mrs. Benton was stabbed numerous times by a student!!

Please continue our SRO program in PSD. As a parent and retired educator I KNOW this program has saved lives.

What possible legitimate reason could one come up with for eliminating this program, in this day and age? Are we stupid? As what all decisions should be based on, look at the data and the proof that the SRO program is improving lives in so many ways.
