We, the undersigned, support the restoration of ROTC at Columbia University, which we believe will benefit both the university and the nation.
As President Bollinger has noted, the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell by the United States Congress "effectively ends what has been a vexing problem for higher education, including at Columbia — given our desire to be open to our military, but not wanting to violate our own core principle against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation."
Recently, Columbia College Dean Michelle Moody-Adams invited us "to consider whether the right question may no longer be 'How could we ever formally recognize ROTC on our campus,' but, instead, 'How can we not welcome them back?'”
We believe that an ROTC program at Columbia University will contribute to diversity among students and promote mutual understanding among the nation's academic, civilian and military domains.

I just saw the count hit one hundred and honestly my coffee is cold because I have been staring at the screen for way too long. It is just wild that this many people are actually talking about this now when I thought it might just sit here in the void forever. We should probably figure out what the next move is after this initial surge.

My son wanted to go there but looked elsewhere because of the ban. Glad to see it finally ending.
YES. COLUMBIA NEEDS THIS BACK.
Glad to see things are finally changing. ROTC provides great opportunities for young people.
Its about time. Students should have the choice to serve their country if they want to.
Stop holding onto old grudges and let the ROTC come back. Ridiculous that it was ever banned in the first place.
