We would like a zoning change for 611 and 613 Allen, from SF-3, to LR.
LR, Neighborhood Commercial zoning, “is intended for neighborhood shopping facilities that provide limited business services and office facilities predominately for the convenience of residents of the neighborhood.” It is the lightest type of commercial zoning, incorporating residential mixed use.
With this new zoning, we intend to expand the community garden, non-profit art gallery programming, educational workshops, and start a community bicycle shop. This will enrich the community’s cultural atmosphere, by raising environmental awareness, and further offering tools for knowledge and empowerment that will aid people in creating a healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. It will also strengthen the cohesion of our neighborhood by offering a productive gathering space for learning and sharing, supporting our local artists, and inspiring creativity.

This would be so good for the area. We need more spaces like this instead of just more apartments going up everywhere.

The city needs to stop dragging its feet and let these guys do their thing. It will make the block look way better for everyone.
