The old site of the coast mountain outdoor school just north of Pemberton is sitting in a state of disrepair and costs school district 48 $10,000 in annual charges despite not generating any revenue. The beautiful cabins are left to the elements, and many of the larger structures on the property have begun to rot into the ground, and are otherwise being reclaimed by the elements.
We understand that countless people through the sea to sky corridor have many fond memories of summer and winters, activities and learning experiences of this location and would like to see passion and life brought back to this land.
A non-profit society that comes into a stewardship role of the land and the structures there would reinvigorate the property, refurbish and maintain the cabins and other structures, and ensure that joy can forge memories of this place for the grandchildren of those individuals who came here in their youth.
We seek to offer learning experiences, lessons and seminars pertaining to various arts and trades. To educate and inform on a broad range of subjects from ecological and environmental awareness, to health and wellness, to philosophical pursuits and literature. In short, to make this a school again, and to preserve the beautiful log cabins, establishing a connection to our heritage. We strive to refurbish and cherish what already exists, rather than to tear down and waste.
Please share this collection of signatures with anyone you know who has fond memories of time spent at the Coast Mountain Outdoor School as we approach the School District with propositions for stewardship positions with this land so it may continue to bring joy to the people and families of the sea to sky region.

This school, saw my two daughters thru many different seasons of a wonderful learning experience! Even myself as a chaperone a few times loved being there! Even I learned things that I didn't know before ie the honey bees!
By far the best memory as a child was attending outdoor school. I was taught how to use and follow a compass, follow a treasure hunt, make soap and candles from scratch, how to develop my own photos, how to milk a cow and care for farm animals. We were taught to row a Canoe, to walk a tight rope across a stream, to raise baby chicks from incubation. So many memories. We grew stronger as children and confident beyond measure. We played outside in the wood maze, and used the big tire swings. We were 1000 percent allowed to be curious children. In a world surrounded by screens, we need more than ever this Outdoor School
How amazing is it that we were able to visit the Outdoor School every single year while growing up? I have so many great memories and am thankful for the skills we developed (without even realizing it). I believe the decision was made in 1993 to close it. I would love to see it brought back to life!
I think this is a super important program to rehabilitate for our youth. With the amount of over stimulated children in the province it could be a great help for them to learn how to disconnect and learn to be grounded. I support this petition and idea 100%. The outdoor school gave me an outlet from a very adverse childhood, I would have never had the chance to see outside that box without the experience of the outdoor school and of coarse "delorise" the creator of the original program. Delorise inspired so many youth to be better humans. Please allow this to move forward for our future generations!!
I always wished my kids could have experienced the Outdoor School, some of my favorite childhood memories were spent there...with Delores & Ray & Pearl, the outdoor maze, all the animals, making candles and soap, sleeping in the residence and then the cabins, having my mom with me and taking the train up there. It brings me no greater joy than to sign this petition, I sure hope they bring this back so that maybe even my grandchildren one day can experience the fun that was the Coast Mountain Outdoor School.
Best place ever!! So lucky that this was part of my childhood!!
Best childhood memories from school.

I learned more life skills at CMOS than I ever did in any classroom. I was saddened when my kids were in elementary school to learn that they would never experience team work and survival skills in the same way we did.
