Final supporters
The Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center (commonly referred to as “SLICE”) is an integral part of Sugar Land, as well as surrounding Houston metro. The recent announcement that the rink may be closing would be a HUGE loss to the community. THOUSANDS of kids and adults frequent the rink on a regular basis, with many calling it a second home. SLICE offers a place for kids and families to get exercise and grow, getting them into a setting where the halls and ice surface is filled with joy and laughter. With so much to offer the community, it would be a true and devastating shame if the doors to SLICE were closed. The City of Sugar Land needs to step in and purchase SLICE and/or to operate the facility until a suitable buyer can be secured. And action needs to be taken immediately to prevent the interruption of so many programs that are currently in full swing.

My niece and nephew skate there and when we visited we thought they were so lucky - we live in Canada and believe it or not my kids had to stop figure skating because there was nowhere in our city that we could get them figure skating time and lessons!
The Skate Therapy program is in danger of ending because of the closing of the rink. About 100 disabled skaters look forward to this Saturday morning program as the highlight of their week. For more info on the program go to StarSkaters online.
Houston needs this rink. A city of this size anywhere else in the country has 10-100 times the number of ice rinks this city has. It offer children, youth, and adults alike exposure to new and challenging experiences that they otherwise wouldn't get.
This is a key facility for the city and should be saved. I see tax monies being spent on new parks and performing arts centers but we also need to save what we already have. The facility touches thousands of the residents of Sugar Land.
This rink has been my entire life for the past 6 years. I work/ed here, taught here, coached here, learned here, and played hockey here. 40% of all of Houston's hockey activities take place here, and it is in Houston's best interest to save this place.
I’m interested in buying that facility at the right price.
Please keep the Sugar Land ice rink open!

Please keep the rink open as we in the community love playing hockey and public skating at this facility. I'm even willing to provide marketing services to the rink at no cost. Sugar Land has more then enough people to support keeping the rink open.
