I agree. The town talks about green spaces all of the time. Why ruin one that we already have?

Cannot lose 90 + years of history in Richmond and a beautiful green golf space just so someone can abuse the system and put in housing! It must be protected.

In Richmond, Quebec, the community golf course is far more than a recreational facility; it is a vital social hub that enriches local life. While its fairways offer residents a place for sport, exercise, and enjoyment of the outdoors, its significance extends well beyond the game. The course provides green space that fosters environmental balance, relaxation, and community pride, often standing as one of Richmond’s most defining landscape features. Equally important is the clubhouse, a versatile venue that brings people together for life’s most memorable occasions. From weddings and anniversaries to corporate events and fundraisers, the clubhouse serves as a welcoming gathering space where connections are strengthened and traditions are built. Its scenic views, hospitality services, and sense of charm make it ideal for celebrations that reflect the spirit and character of Richmond itself. Maintaining this facility in Richmond ensures not only the preservation of recreation and leisure but also the continuation of social connection. A golf course with a thriving clubhouse supports local employment, stimulates tourism, and provides residents with a place to celebrate milestones. It stands as a cornerstone of community life—one that keeps the heart of Richmond, Quebec, connected and thriving.

My parents have lived on Thomas street for 51 years, the golf course has always been around for us. My brother and I played when we were younger and I work at the golf course for 4 years, 2 of those as the manager. There is enough construction going on in our town building apartments we do not need this green space being turned into another residential area just so that the town can make more money on taxes, We are supposed to be encouraging our youth to be active. In the winter we skied in the golf, snowshoed and would slide down the many hills. Don’t let the power of money enforce the decision to take this all away.
