Long boarding is quickly becoming a dominate activity for our youth and the young-at-heart. It's a sport that requires dedication and passion, like any other. Our group, Brantford Long Boarders has 159 members on facebook as of June 19, 2012. We have been holding monthly events (Slide 'N Cruise) on Golf Rd. where we gather to show our skills, teach each other and have fun sharing the love of long boarding. There are races, slide competitions and helmets are always mandatory on the hill. These well organized events are sponsored by local companies such as Indecks and large long boarding companies such as Original, Santa Cruz, Rayne, Longboard Living and Earthwing. Recently, our events have been being reported to the police as disruptive to traffic, although, since it is a dead end road with very few residents, this seems unjust. Even more so, because the residents living on Golf Rd. support our events and the complaints came from people who do not live on Golf Rd. The events draw people of all ages from multiple surrounding cities and the participants are always friendly, careful of traffic and clean up at the end of the day. We would like to ask that on the first Sunday of the month May-October from Noon - 5:30pm, Golf Rd. Brantford ON , be closed from St.Andrews Dr. to the dead end in order for Slide n' Cruise to run smoothly and safely.

Updates

June 27, 2012

The momentum we have built makes it impossible for the city to keep ignoring our request. These bureaucrats who hide behind traffic complaints are finally starting to feel the pressure we are putting on them.

These kids are doing something active and actually outside instead of sitting around playing video games. Just let them have the street for a few hours.

Ridiculous that people who dont even live there are complaining. It is a dead end road anyway, let them skate!
