Leaving daycare centers open during this time is dangerous for staff and children. Daycare involves so much contact with children and involves young children. If it’s bad enough to close schools it should be bad enough to close daycare. Especially in a state of emergency.
The administration continues to ignore the obvious danger while they force daycares to stay open during this crisis. I am spending my time contacting every official I can reach to demand they wake up to this reality before someone else gets sick.

The massive surge in support proves parents are sick of the state ignoring this obvious danger. These centers are putting lives at risk while the authorities stay silent. This momentum tells the people in charge that we are not backing down until every single one of these death traps is locked shut.

As an employee in a daycare, I agree all childcare facilities need to be shut down. We come into contact with so many people, infants, children, parents, grandparents, babysitters, people touring for childcare, ect... illnesses get pasted around so fast in daycare settings. Why were we forgot about. My grandma is my nanny while I work and my husband is type-1 diabetic. I'm not necessarily worried about myself but I'm worried about bringing this devastating virus home to my loved ones who can be affected severely. Please think about this. Why shut down schools and not daycares!!

As a daycare worker who also has children of my own one with severe asthma this makes me upset. We are still open and I could be putting my own childs health at risk.

As a childcare provider I love the kids I care for and I sympathize with the parents, but now may be a better time for them to find private sitters. We also need to know that having to shut down won't hurt us financially. At least we need to know that if shut down we will be taken care of until we can reopen (i.e. our power and water not shut off, phones not shut off, payments delayed, ebt) something. I do agree that we should be shut down though because nothing spreads faster than in a daycare. We are the first ones to get sick when there's an outbreak and I promise you that if daycares aren't shut down this problem will not go away.

Daycares should close for the same reasons that all schools have been closed.

That’s a big point! Why do schools staff matter more then daycares? We all worked for a certificate/ degree and even if you didn’t, you still work your hardest every day!

Keep child care center employees safe. They are teachers too.
